I bought this in June 2009 and used it for about 3 months. The unit has done a great job (clean, easy to view graphics, good sound, lots of helpful answers, custom settings), when it works, the work is the key word. Has a tendacy not want to light or to turn quickly dragged off once (this can be a frustrating game after a while '). It can also be very slow to acquire satellites, then you probably need to know the area you are going to take as it mayup to 5 minutes to get one. Their tech support leaves much to be desired, as when I did this to their attention, they were more interested to know the cost of repairs on the discussion of problems, especially on what should have been a problem of security. Bottom-line: if you get one as a gift, you should stick with it. Otherwise, there are better choices.

My Navigon 8100T purchased in mid-February 09 came about a month ago due to a short course of internal connection pins. He got hot enough to blister the plastic around the ankles and around the car to drive. Potentially at risk of fire! Call us 888 – 848-0701 number and referred all requests for service within their website. 6 and sent on-demand email service in the last 1 months and got no answer! Even the standard letter of reply! Did a search through the Better Business Bureau andNavigon is no longer in their inclusion of American business.
I recommend to everyone who recently bought a Garmin GPS unit to check their warranty status for their supplier. Back to a refund, if possible.
$ 400 is a lot of money to lose in a warrantied any electronic device.

I liked the unit. It performed admirably, but when I went to check out the new maps, I discovered that the company has hightailed U.S. market and has not provided the updated maps.
I returned the Garmin after a week of use.
