Bought one of these new and is garbage, junk, junk. Is not a product of commercial quality. Had to replace and I had a similar product dysfunctional. Try to get them to replace it under warranty, but is difficult to do, how you find the phone – more than 30 minutes waiting time for voice messages – I'm 30 minutes and still waiting. He purchased another GPS for several hours to replace it is a place dear to the shelf.

I bought this unit serial number 1N3004101 at Best Buy six months ago. Several times, the screen would spontaneously Go to 1% brightness (which is a real pain trying to see the buttons on the screen to remedy). Last month, before groped to find a house in the hills of liquidation of the San Francisco Bay, the screen is dead. Very bad timing. A recovery the next day. Now, three weeks later he died again. Unreliable. I hate to think that these things are disposable units with a shorter lifemy windshield wiper blade. I made a complaint to Garmin. We'll see how that goes.

I researched GPS units for a couple of weeks before deciding to buy it. Had good reviews and after considering the opinions and Tom Tom GPS Magellan bought a Garmin. Oh my What a joke! The drive itself is okay, but the maps and guides / directions are horrible. I laugh or I'll cry! We live near Victoria, Texas, a city of 60,000 + people and has some great roads built 5 years ago. The roads are not on maps Garmin update. I was told something built 2 years or later wouldmaps, but these roads are 5 years and are not. I feel for people who are not from this area, because lost. The roads are poorly named and does not know the highways in this area, which would be totally lost and confused.
Am concerned about the future trips we do and how we lost this GPS unit in the city. I was hoping for a recent trip to the airport in San Antonio this unit would do well. He has not done well. TriedWe are told that the streets were 20 to 30 miles of our journey. I played with different settings for the type of riding you want, faster, cheaper, etc. .. And it makes no difference. I finally cut the sound and practically ignored the GPS unit together. My son is 6 years will enjoy watching the screen but sort of expensive toy for a year, 6 years. I thank God, I have my papers and book map of Texas County, which I know I'm going to need. A Bad Garmin does not use theMapbooks to update their maps. I'm sorry I bought it. I plan to return the unit, but I'm one of those who do not lose hope. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear. I like the drive is simply not the maps or directions. I would not recommend the purchase of this or any other Garmin unit. Maybe Tom Tom or Magellan maps are the best?

Be aware that the maps on these units are obsolete. My unit was version map 27, current maps are version 31. Magellan will provide free update for the new unit, if requested within 30 days of purchase. But it will provide updated maps for the units refurbished, you will need to buy updated maps at a cost of $ 80 plus shipping. Magellan GPS can make a decent, but their customer service / support sucks.
